Lake Gardner Sensory Hike
Saturday, June 30 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Join the Lake Gardner Association for their inaugural “Sensory Hike” in the greenspace of Po Hill.
This “sensory hike” will be in the spirit of the growing movement known as “Forest Bathing”, which is essentially taking the time to use your senses to mindfully soak in the nature around you as you explore. We’ll talk about the first inhabitants, the early settlers, and the rich history of our town as we hike, pausing often to notice the sights, smells, sounds and textures around us.
At 9 AM, we’ll begin our hike. Start by exploring the lakeside paths that meander along the side of Powow Hill, or Po Hill as it is known locally. This slow-paced, guided hike starts at the beach, goes through the beautiful mixed forest to the scenic summit of Po Hill. This is a hill, so there will be some slopes involved.
We’ll continue down the largely coniferous northern side of the hill and make our way to the rolling fields of Battis Farm on the northern edge of Amesbury. There will be a single hike which should last about an hour and a half. Please arrive by 8:45. There is no cost for this hike, but donations of non-perishables for Our Neighbor’s Table are welcome.
